Each school has a calendar on their websites with information about events going on for that specific school. The Alabaster City Schools calendar highlights board meetings, system-wide events, and school-specific events. The district calendar is color-coded by school. This can be very useful if you want to view all of the events taking place around the district, or if you have children at different schools.
To filter events by school, choose Options (located above the left-hand corner of the Calendar), and then choose Filter Events. From the drop-down menu, deselect the schools you DO NOT wish to view. The calendar view will change and only display the content that remains selected.
These settings will save for all future visits to the calendar. If you wish to add other schools back to your view, select them from the filter options.
Our webmasters are in the process of updating and creating the new web pages, and information is constantly being added. Keep checking back and we will send out an announcement when that information becomes available.

Currently, Alabaster City Schools will be using Appleton for subs. As far as full-time employment, there are several jobs listed on our Employment page at our website: http://www.alabasterschools.org/Jobs
If you are a current employee of Alabaster City Schools, your child will be allowed to attend Alabaster City Schools. You must have primary physical custody of your child. Your child must be in and remain in good standing with grades, attendance, and discipline. Transportation will not be provided by Alabaster City. If your employment is terminated for any reason, your child may stay till the end of the current semester. Please see your supervisor for approval forms.
According to the agreed transition schedule, students who are completing the sixth grade and above during the 2013-2014 school year, will be allowed to finish in Alabaster City Schools provided they do not move outside the transition zone address. If a student in this situation moves outside of the transition zone, they will need to enroll in their new school zone.
For example, a student is in the 8th grade and lives outside the city limits of Alabaster but has been in the Alabaster zone with Shelby County. The student will be able to finish at Alabaster Schools.
However, if this same student moves to Calera during her 9th grade year, the student would need to enroll with Shelby County Schools.
Some students will begin transitioning to Shelby County schools this upcoming school year (2014-2015)
Rising sixth graders and incoming kindergarteners who live in unincorporated areas of the Shelby County School System’s former Alabaster school zone will enter county schools beginning in the 2014-2015 school year.
The plan, which was approved by the Shelby County Board of Education during its Jan. 23 meeting in Columbiana, was first developed as part of the separation agreement between Shelby County School and the newly formed Alabaster City Schools, which is in its first year of operation.
